Course overview

Make a start on your career in the media with this entry-level course. This qualification will give you the foundation skills needed to work in a number of assistant roles in radio, film, sound, media, and web design.

According to the Australian Government’s Job Outlook service, the number of people working as performing arts technicians — including camera operators, lighting technicians, and sound technicians — grew very strongly over the past five years. Stable future growth is expected in this occupational area with employers looking for workers who are reliable, work well in a team, and have a strong work ethic.

Learn the practical skills and knowledge to create content for a range of media and visual design components, follow the design process, and develop and extend critical and creative thinking skills. Our highly experienced and passionate teaching team have years of industry experience and will give you the one-on-one guidance needed to prepare you for a career in media.

Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work in a variety of roles as either a community radio programmer or presenter, camera and lighting assistant, sound technician, media professional, or web designer.
