David Crosby is one of the most recognised faces of 1960s counter-culture and music. Shamelessly imitated in look and manner by Dennis Hopper in Easy Rider, Crosby was famous for his musical genius in The Byrds with whom he recorded 5 albums and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young with whom he recorded 13. He was responsible for such iconic tunes as Eight Miles High and Wooden Ships and the distinctive harmony arrangements that defined American popular, country and folks music for decades since.
This exhaustive documentary is packed with fantastic vision and music from the day as it traces Crosby’s music, drug, sex and politically fuelled world, work and contribution. Along the way we get to experience the intersecting worlds of his musical and artistic contemporaries like Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Roger McGuinn, Crosby’s perennial dislike of Jim Morrison (which is always funny) and tons of great footage.
Much more than simply a tribute to a great artist, Remember My Name is a sparkling examination of a moment in time and its impact on one of its enduring stars.
