A powerful story surrounding the tangi (funeral) of a small boy who dies at the hands of his caregiver, and how the death impacts the community

Waru is a feature-length film made up of eight 10 minute shorts. All thematically linked by the death of a young boy, the movie follows eight different stories written and directed by nine Māori women. This is the first feature-length production directed by Māori women in 30 years.
