M.C. Escher: Journey to Infinity

Escher: Het Oneindige Zoeken

The Erasmus Foundation presents a film about Dutch artist M. C. Escher, who is one of the world’s best known graphical artists. His impossible optical illusions and metamorphoses are eye catching and unique. This documentary tells his own narrated story and has contributions by his direct family and others including Graham Nash from Crosby Stills Nash & Young. The film uses fascinating animations to bring his graphics to life. His work has appeared on the covers of many books and albums. Even the Rolling Stones have an album with artwork inspired by Escher.

Directed by Robin Lutz, it won the Dutch Crystal Film award for documentary films in 2018. This is the first time it has been shown in Australia to accompany the current exhibition of Escher’s work at the NGV.
