Another Woman's Life

La vie d'une autre

12 years pass in the blink of an eye in Sylvie Testud's underappreciated debut drama

“...offers Binoche the occasion to channel the nonstop energy of her early work”Hollywood Reporter

On the night of her birthday, Marie (Juliette Binoche) meets the man of her dreams, Paul (Matthieu Kassovitz), and after a night of drinking and dancing, she and Paul go home together. When Marie wakes up the next morning, it is 12 years later. She is married to Paul, is the CEO of his families' large multinational company and has a young son, but she has no memory of the last 12 years. To make matters worse, her marriage is on the rocks, and Marie must now do everything she can to win back the man of her dreams.

Juliette Binoche  and Cannes Film Festival award winner Mathieu Kassovitz (AmelieLa haine) star in this under-appreciated drama about second chances. Another Woman's Life also marks the directorial debut of French actress Sylvie Testud (Lourdes) and apart from Claire Denis, is one of the small number of female directors to have worked with Binoche.
