Decolonising the Moving Image

With developments in technology, there’s more than one way to tell your story

In this one-off event, filmmaker Beck Cole (director Here I Am) and Rachael Maza (‘Cressy’, Radiance) will trace some of the major shifts in First Nations filmmaking in Australia over the last three decades.

They'll discuss the important shift from depiction to representation, both on and behind the camera, and the special capacity of film to preserve and perpetuate culture and stories. They'll also share some of their favourite films and makers from the last few years, with a particular focus on First Nations women's stories.

Hosted by Rachael Hocking , co-host of The Point, screening every Wednesday night at 8.30pm on NITV.
