New Production! For the fourth consecutive year, Palace Opera Ballet will present La Scala’s season opening gala, one of Europe’s most anticipated cultural events. This year, maestro Riccardo Chailly and Davide Livermore continue their successful collaboration (after last season’s Don Pasquale) to create a new staging of Giuseppe Verdi’s enthralling ninth opera. First staged at La Fenice in 1846, it’s
a complex work in which a still youthful composer experiments with new paths between historical setting, spectacular impact, psychological glimpses and moral uncertainties. Attila asks the singers for their momentum and confidence but also the ability to find accents and nuances. Brilliant bass Ildar Abdrazakov will sing the title role opposite exciting Spanish soprano Saioa Hernandez as Odabella.
