Australia’s Home of World Animation.

AniMate is an International Animation Film Festival and a growing community of animation lovers, students, professionals and film makers.
With its third Season in 2022, AniMate welcomes all Animation film entries. You can now submit your Animated film; we may screen it in Sydney and you may receive a nomination.

In Season 1 we have received 583 Films and 189 Laurels have been sent to Film Makers (Official Selection, Winners).

In Season 2 we have received 878 Films and 672 Laurels have been sent to Film Makers (Quarter Finalists, Semi Finalists, Finalists, Offical Selection, Winners).

Short and feature Animated films of all genres, we would love to have you here at AniMate!

Semi-Finalists, Finalists, Official Selection and Award Winners will receive a Laurel.

During our screening events, the attending audience will vote for the Audience Awards. Audience Awards winner will receive a Laurel once vote counting is completed and winners announced.

Are you the producer of a short or feature animated film? We would love to see your work!

Submit your film today for a chance to be nominated to the Animate – Season 3 Film Festival!

There is a promotional AU$4 entry fee only till January 2022, and it is a great opportunity to have your film out in the crowd.

We receive animated films from all over the World; any genre and lengths are welcome. Your film will be viewed and assessed; if short-listed, it could be nominated to the Animate Film Festival program. Once nominated, you will receive a Laurel to promote your film.

DEFINITIONS

To be considered, at least 50% of your film’s total length must be animated;
We consider Short films those with a maximum duration of 40 minutes in total, credits included.
Films longer than 40 minutes are considered Feature Films.

For the second season we accept films completed between 2020 and 2022. The category “Australian Animated films – made in 2019 or earlier” is the only exception.

– Short Animation – Children (intended for an audience of children)

– Short Animation – Student (made by students as part of their course)

– Short Animation – Music Video

– Short Animation – Australian (animated films produced in Australia)

– Short Animation – Australian Students (made by students in Australia as part of their course)

– Films and Documentaries with Animation as a theme (animated and non-animated entries accepted for this category, any duration)

– Feature Animation – General

– Feature Animation – Anime

– Feature Animation – Children (intended for an audience of children)

– Feature Animation – Family

– Australian Animated films – made in 2019 or earlier (No entry fees)

You can submit your film into different categories. If a category is not finalised, your film will be included in the General or a different category.

Any genre, short and feature Animation films are welcome. We do particularly value content that is challenging and bold, new and original, representing Indigenous voices and diversity, including experimental.
