NZ’s newest co-pro treaty partner, India, is in the spotlight in Switzerland this week. The country is the focus of the Locarno Film Festival’s Open Doors co-production lab. In a panel discussion, Indian producers likened their government’s support of the local industry to their hosts’ famous cheese: full of holes.

Each year Open Doors selects projects from its country of choice seeking co-production partners and finance. Indian producers submitted more than 200 applications in 18 different languages from 30 regions of India, making for an interesting selection process before the Lab could get under way.
