Editing is a merciless area to judge, because it tells us about the craft of the editor herself, but also the material as shot, and the capacity to create precise and genuine emotion. So editing awards are honours that spread to the rest of the crew and the (so called) creative principals.Â
The winner of the short film category of the 2019 Australian Screen Editors Awards (announced in Sydney on Sunday night) is Michelle McGilvray for her work on Reverse, a five minute horror film by Brisbane genre junkie Josh Tanner (w/d) and Jade van der Lei & Josh Tanner (w/p) and James Grenville (co-p), which is well-promoted on Vimeo.
These results come straight from the ASE website, but they are worth spreading around.Â
