As part of the 18th Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the National Screenwriters’ Conference will focus on the Art of Screen Comedy. The writers that make Australia laugh will come together over three days to celebrate, discuss and dissect Australian screen comedy. International guest Mike Bullen (Cold Feet, Life Begins) will be In Conversation with Australia’s Geoffrey Atherden (Mother & Son, Grass Roots) ; Andrew Knight (Sea-Change, Crash Burn) will talk about the challenges facing Australian scriptwriters and The Programmers (Robyn Kershaw ABC, Stephen Tate Network Ten and Anthony Ellis Nine Network) will give the low down on comedies that have been successful and why. Other session speakers include Amanda Higgs (The Secret Life of Us), Paul Fenech (Fat Pizza), Gary Reilly (Kingswood Country, Hey Dad), Frank Woodley (The Adventures of Lano & Woodley) and Brian Rosen (Chief Executive, Film Finance Corporation).
