South Australian Film Corporation Chairman Cheryl Bart announced today
that the Premier and Minister for the Arts, Mike Rann has appointed Bridget
Ikin as a new Director to the Board of the SAFC.
“I am delighted to welcome another passionate and innovative filmmaker onto
the SAFC Board. Bridget has been a strong supporter of the South Australian
film industry for many years and her diverse experiences as a film producer
and administrator will be an invaluable asset in helping maintain the SAFC’s
position at the forefront of the Australian film industry.” Ms Bart said.
Ikin has returned to the independent production sector after completing a two
year contract as an Evaluation Manger at the FFC in Sydney, where she
consulted (amongst others) on the features Candy, Footy Legends, Suburban
Mayhem, The Home Song Stories, Clubland and Lucky Miles.
Previously, Ikin has held the position of Associate Director Film of the 2002
Adelaide Festival where she was the Executive Producer of The Tracker,
Australian Rules, Walking On Water and Kabbarli. Ikin has also held the
positions of General Manager, of SBSi (1996-2000), Project Consultant with
the AFC Development Branch (1993), Board Member, New Zealand Film
Commission (1998-1990) and a Member Creative Film & Video Panel, Queen
II Arts Council (1987-1989).
Filmography
Ikin has produced Look Both Ways (awards include four AFI Awards in 2005
for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor – Tony
Hayes), Jane Campion’s An Angel At My Table (Silver Lion Venice Film
Festival 1990), Alison Maclean’s extraordinary short film Kitchen Sink (In
Competition, Cannes, 1989), as well as her feature Crush (In Competition,
Cannes, 1992).
Ikin also co-produced Loaded, Anna Campion’s debut feature (Venice 1995),
Clara Law’s lyrical and evocative film Floating Life (Silver Leopard, Locarno,
1996) and a large number of ground-breaking short films.
