Lynley Marshall, Director of ABC New Media and Digital Services, today announced the appointment of Dan Fill to the position of Head of Development.
Mr Fill is currently Vice-President of Interactive Decode Entertainment, the Canadian company he joined in 1999 to found, and build, a new media studio. Decode Interactive is now the world’s leading producer/distributor of convergent interactive content.
His work has been recognised by many international awards’ organisations including the British Academy Awards, Prix De Jeunesse, Baddeck New Media Awards, the Canadian New Media Awards and the Gemini Awards.
Having visited Australia during the past three years, Mr Fill has developed a comprehensive understanding of the Australian television and interactive marketplace. He has engaged with Australian producers, game developers, funding agencies and broadcasters and, earlier this year, was in Australia to assist in the promotion of the AFC/ABC Broadband Production Initiative. He has also been part of an initiative to create an interactive co-production treaty between Australia and Canada.
Former Head of Development, Robert Hutchinson, left the ABC in early September to pursue a career in independent filmmaking.
“Dan Fill is a well-known and respected industry leader in the creation of innovative multi-platform digital projects and has an extensive background in the development of convergent content across a range of genres,” Ms Marshall said today.
“He brings a wealth of expertise in broadband, digital television and interactive media that will further enhance ABC New Media and Digital Services’ development of quality cross-platform digital content.”
Mr Fill will join ABC New Media and Digital Services in the role of Head of Development from early December.
