This year the Australia Day honours list wallowed in popular culture like a pig in mud. Magda Szubanski, Kylie Minogue and Olivia Newton-John are named, along with Ian Thorpe, Kevin Sheedy, tennis great Roy Emerson, and kid’s writer Jennifer Rowe.

Screen Industry figures include producers Sue Maslin and Anita Jacoby, ABC radio legend Jon Faine, journalists Alan Kohler and Adele Ferguson. Legendary script executive Bevan Lee made his mark on both  Nine and Seven. Women have 37% of the awards, up by 4% on last year.
