What’s on your screen: national fests rampant from zombies to Shakespeare

There's a lot on for the sharp eyed cineaste with no prejudices starting now and running for the next month. Also Ladies in Black is hanging in.

Let’s face it, somewhere in all of us is an inner Westwood.

The schedule is dominated by festivals at the moment.

The Mini-British Film Festival from Palace opens on Oct 23 around Australia with a retrospective of Michael Caine and the original Italian Job. Among the modern films is a sentimental documentary about Spitfires and Ophelia which looks at the Hamlet storyworld again and a zomblie flick. Both of these motifs will turn up in other festivals. Anna and the Apocalypse looks like an ace mashup:
