What’s on the big screen: Oscars runners and good indies

The kids are back at school and the atmosphere in public places is suddenly very different. The true superhero movies have shuffled sideways and the top American films are now relatively grown up. 

The Hivemind decided that Storm Boy is good family entertainment though the essential wildness of the original has been tidied up and sent to Myer for its torn jeans. It probably reflects changing audience tastes and parents’ desire to civilise their children. The original film comes from the generation who were toughened by school milk.
