The latest instalment of the ludicrously funFast & Furious franchise drew audiences to the big screen in its opening weekend, showing on 296 screens and grossing $7.2 million. That’s a screen average of $24,457 for the Universal picture. The promise of reliable explosions and satisfying thug-smacking is obviously still a draw, and this franchise has a reputation for its particular family values and preference for real effects over obvious CGI.
