The total box office drifts even further down. It will be interesting to see if this is affected by the heatwave, is a consequence of streaming or just a middling bunch of films.

What Men Want is doing okay at $4.94m in three weeks on 258 screens. On the Basis of Sex, a true life story about feminist judge and powerhouse Ruth Bader Ginsburg has a respectable $2.55m in four weeks off 226 screens – a reward for a punt by eOne. Black comedy thriller Cold Pursuit has been tracked down by the discerning who provided $2.45m initially off 259 screens in four weeks.
