Bong Joong-Ho’s Parasite nests in growing Sydney Film Festival

Few surprises in the Sydney Film Festival prizes for 2019, as growth looks fine as auteur directors find their success has a dark side.

This year, according to Sydney Film Festival CEO Leigh Small, there were 160 sold out sessions, and a total attendance of 188,000. Officially there were 112 feature films and 79 documentaries, though those numbers were bolstered by a few late announcements. ‘We now micromarket all the time,’ she told Screenhub, ‘and all the films find audiences and they are vastly more diverse.’
