Yes, BBC Worldwide is doing very nicely in Australia

BBC Worldwide may not be a titan, but it does look like a very, very smart deal for the BBC and UK television.

Image: Sherlock is doing very well for BBC Worldwide, but its still a pawn in a much larger game.

Netflix is a very big animal. It now has 104m streaming subscribers, half of whom are outside the US. In the calendar year 0f 2016, it made AU$11.2b, with a profit of $240m.

Revenue for News Corp was probably around $11.5b for the same period, though it has been absorbing a $290m non-cash writedown on the value of Foxtel. This is all special juggling in troubled times, but it does create a stark contrast with Netflix.
