Buckman to the rescue! Image: work for Foxtel by branding company Principals

The announcement seems routine – ‘Foxtel Chief Executive, Peter Tonagh today announced that Mark Buckman would join Foxtel as Managing Director, Customer and Retail, commencing in June.’

It may look as if Peter Tonagh is moving fast to build his new team, but I understand that there has been a substantial hunt to replace Ed Smith, the former Executive Director Sales and Marketing at Foxtel, and former former Group Marketing Director News Ltd until February 2012. He put together the bundling deal which dropped the floor out of Foxtel prices and was a key element of its strategy to break out of its 30% market share.
