Oh look, an Australian film. Image: Gods of Egypt promotional still.

Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Award list is not the heart-starter list that we see in other awards, where nominees have been culled to create a shortlist.

The rules say that any film ‘publicly exhibited during the Release Period for paid admission in a commercial cinema, for a run of at least fourteen consecutive days, in a minimum of four Australian Capital Cities – including Sydney and Melbourne’ is automatically nominated. Producers just need a minimum of $1350 as the entry fee, and have two members listed on the form.
