ATYP specialises in integrating professional theatre practice with supportive youth theatre process. We work with all levels of the arts industry, from the most celebrated national companies to the smallest youth theatres across Australia. Our work supports young people from their first theatre experience to their professional careers.

ATYP stages critically acclaimed productions and tours nationally. We are a leader in connecting young people with industry professionals: providing opportunities through productions, workshops and our writing programs. ATYP engages teachers and students through our learning program, providing high-quality education resources, in-school workshops and digital access to productions and resources through our innovative ATYP On Demand platform.

ATYP has space on the Board of Directors for leaders with expertise in:

  • Financial Management
  • Marketing and/or Public Relations

  • Arts Leadership

This is an opportunity to join the company at a period of significant change.  2021 will see the company move into purpose-built premises on Pier 2/3 in the redeveloped Walsh Bay Arts and Cultural Precinct. This world-class facility provides ATYP and the national youth arts sector with exclusive use of a 200 seat theatre, two Studio spaces, dressing rooms, green room, office spaces, storage space and meeting rooms in the heart of Sydney overlooking the Harbour Bridge. ATYP shares the Pier with two other iconic national companies, the Bell Shakespeare Company and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. The neighbouring Pier houses Sydney Theatre Company, Sydney Dance Company and Bangarra Dance Theatre.

The new home is a reflection of ATYP’s standing as a flagship Australian Theatre Company. It provides a venue suitable for showcasing the very best in theatre involving young people and a destination for young artists across the country and around the World.

ATYP is lead by Artistic Director/CEO Fraser Corfield who has been with the company for ten years supported by a team of industry professionals. The ATYP Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the Governance of the company with particular focus on financial planning, Government relations, fundraising and the negotiation of long-term agreements such as those related to Pier 2/3.
