Policy Analyst, Strategic Policy and Industry Insights

About us

Screen Australia’s Strategic Policy and Industry Insights team collects data and information on screen production and consumption in Australia, and undertakes rigorous analysis to highlight industry trends and the effect of programs and policies on the sector, in addition to assisting the senior executive to develop policy positions and engage with policy makers. This robust evidence and keen insight informs Screen Australia’s internal strategy development function and the sector.  

About the role

We are now seeking an experienced Policy Analyst to join our Strategic Policy and Industry Insights team. Working closely with the Manager, Strategic Policy and Insights the successful candidate will research and monitor emerging policy issues relevant to the Australian screen industry and analyse their potential effects, devise policy positions and strategic responses. Key responsibilities will include, drafting policy briefs, strategy materials and drafting and fact checking reports, submissions, speeches and correspondence. In addition, this role contributes to Screen Australia’s research and policy priorities through the compilation and analysis of key data. This role is full time and offered for 2 years initially and will be based in our Sydney office.

About you  

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as public policy, arts or legal studies and/or equivalent work experience in a policy role with similar responsibilities.
  • Well-developed research, interpretation and critical analysis skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with ability to draft and check briefs, submissions, correspondence and other written materials to a high standard.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills including the ability to respond to changing priorities, and manage competing deadlines.
