Metro Screen, in partnership with the City of Sydney, is proud to offer the new Digital Escalator program. This program will support cultural, community and arts organisations within the City of Sydney to develop digital video skills and build content creation and distribution capacity, through fully subsidised access to training, equipment, studio/venue/edit suite access, and expert advice and support.
Whether you are interested in creating video content for your website, Facebook page, YouTube channel or crowdfunding Campaign, or incorporating video elements into live performance, the Digital Escalator program is here to support the growth and development of your arts organisation, and to assist you to reach the widest audience possible through the incorporation of digital screen technologies.
Applicants can apply for support up to the value of $1500 per organisation. This could include a mixture of both screen training (i.e. shooting and lighting video, video editing) and equipment/facilities hire (i.e. camera, lighting, edit suite, studio).
Metro Screen staff will assist successful applicants to identify the best possible combination of training and equipment/facilities to help them meet their objectives in organisational and professional development, and increase of exposure and capacity in the digital, online and social media realms.
Digital Escalator offers creative and cultural organisations access to a range of support services to meet their most immediate and pressing needs and thereby support sector development and sustainability.
Skills Development & Training
Digital Escalator offers creative and cultural organisations access to training courses and skills development in production areas such as camera, editing, sound, and online storytelling.
This training will enable creative and cultural organisations to produce their own digital content, and distribute this content across a number of online and social media platforms. It will also enable these organisations and creative workers to incorporate video projection and interactivity into traditional live art forms.

Access to Equipment and Facilities
Digital Escalator provides access to the latest equipment and facilities to support the production and online distribution of video content, and the use of video and multimedia elements into live performance. Access may include the use of one camera through to a full shoot kit (camera, lights, sounds), use of the studio for shoots or events, or use of our edit suites for post-production needs.

Digital Escalator will focus on supporting the not-for-profit cultural sector but will also include other not-for-profit and private creative and cultural enterprises that can demonstrate need.
Organisations targeted to participate in Digital Escalator include:
• community or not-for-profit arts organisations
• independent theatre companies
• independent dance companies
• poetry and writing organisations
• community or not-for-profits who offer artistic programs
• youth arts organisations
• not-for-profit creative collectives
Eligible organisations must:
• be not for profit
• be incorporated and located within the City of Sydney footprint
• demonstrate need for subsidised access to digital training, equipment and/or facilities
• demonstrate how participation in the program will assist organisational sustainability and capacity
Applications for Digital Escalator are now open the program will run from September 2015 through to May 2016 or until the funds are exhausted. We encourage interested organisations to apply now.
