جزیره آهنی
Join us in the cinema to experience one of Mohammad Rasoulof’s earliest films which delivers a compassionate kick-start to a career of social critique.
Off the southern coast of Iran in the light blue waters of the Persian Gulf, an abandoned oil tanker has become a home for a community of displaced and otherwise homeless people squeezed out of Iran’s status quo. Leading the community is authoritarian Captain Nemat who offers work to the male tenants quietly gutting the ship of scrap metal and oil reserves.
His dominant presence commands a precarious harmony amongst the tenants who are unaware that the rusted ship is quietly sinking with them in it.
