From a screen creator’s point of view, the Melbourne International Film Festival is an exercise in disappointment, in a good way.
For a start, there are at least 27 feature dramas and documentaries on show, many of which will only get one screening, presumably because the distributors just want to tease the public before a local release. There are four programs of Australian or Australan related short films including the two Accelerator programs which showcase the work of the filmmakers attending the intensive development program.
