The 2019 festival screened 104 films in ten sold out programs, over five days, that showcased a range of genres. In addition to the regular programs, the 2020 festival will again feature the premiere of a locally made feature film, Indigenous films, and youth programs. The popular female filmmakers’ program `The Rouge’ is back for 2020. Award winning film producer and Women in Film and TV (WIFT) Patron, Sue Maslin, will again sponsor the program for the fifth year, by donating $1,000 and `The Film Art Media Award’ for Best Film by A Female Director’. The calibre of films in this category is very high attracting quality films from around the world. The success of ‘The Rouge’ has seen female participation in the festival grow by about 33 per cent with 53 short films entered by female filmmaker in 2019.
Organisers are busy planning workshops and forums to run during the festival.
“We have something for everyone and proud to see how the innovative programs and awards we introduced years ago, has allowed us to deliver a dense and diverse festival, representative of our society,” says Festival Director Anna Bourozikas.
