ISLAND HOP FEST
Coming to an Island near you
Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Guam...
... to name just a few of the many locations across the Pacific region that Pasifika Film Fest will be staging screenings together with our hosting partners.
PFF’s 2020 objective is to extend our outreach and impact by producing a festival that encompasses all of Oceania during the month of October, thereby increasing engagement with film throughout the region.
2019 saw a wave of Pacific film produced and screened around the world. Our focus for 2020 is to lay the foundation for these films to be accessible to both their own communities as well as others in and across the Pacific. In doing so, we aim to inspire further production of local content and create an allied sense of pride and purpose for all Pacific nations.
PFF envisages the structure of the 2020 festival as a stimulating and diverse program of Pacific films that will be on show for the duration of October across multiple Pacific Island nations, hosted by a local venue or venues.
This new multi-national celebration of Pacific storytelling is the only event of its kind and the team at PFF HQ are absolutely thrilled to be able to launch a program of this size. We will be screening to audiences in larger metropolitan cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and Phoenix, Arizona, as well as into the heart of the smallest nations and village communities across our Pacific sea of islands.
The 2020 festival and recent workshop and development trips across the region would not have been possible without the support of the Australian Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). PFF is thankful for and proud to have DFAT as a partner in their endeavor to facilitate meaningful and lasting connections through the sharing of stories between Australia and our closest neighbours within the Pacific region.
