SHORT AND FEATURE FILM ENTRIES NOW OPEN FOR EFFA 2020
The Environmental Film Festival Australia (EFFA) is currently calling for film submissions for EFFA 2020.
Held annually in Melbourne, EFFA is Australia’s only international film festival dedicated to screening films with a focus on the environment.
Now running for 10 years, and including an array of screenings, panel discussions and special events, this year promises to be our biggest yet, tapping into the ever-growing interest and concern about the world around us.
WHO SHOULD SUBMIT A FILM?
Whether you’re a local filmmaker finishing your first short film, or an international producer planning your annual film festival circuit, now’s the time to submit your film for EFFA 2020.
Filmmakers of all career stages and backgrounds are invited to submit documentary or narrative films in the following categories:
EFFA screens films from around the world, last year showcasing 44 films from 20 countries. Films must be in English, or have English subtitles. To be eligible, films must have been completed after 1 January 2019.
WHAT CONSTITUTES AN ENVIRONMENTAL FILM?
Films screened at EFFA encompass a breadth of topics, from celebrating the beauty of the world around us, including our nature, flora, fauna and wildlife, to championing the people, organisations, campaigns and projects seeking to protect our environment, through to spotlighting the unprecedented global threats we face, including climate change, food sustainability, habitat loss and pollution.
From local enviro heroes, to multinational ‘eco-villains’, EFFA’s program is interesting, diverse and thought-provoking, while staying true to our mission that EFFA provides a catalyst for positive and sustainable change, raising awareness and generating meaningful impact for our audiences.
EFFA’S SUPPORT FOR FILMMAKERS
EFFA provides a number of audience engagement opportunities, including meet the maker sessions, in conversation events, and panel sessions, as well as marketing and publicity support, including media interview opportunities via our publicist and media partnerships.
By negotiation, EFFA may also be able to support domestic and international travel for filmmakers to attend EFFA (note this is considered on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of EFFA management).
