Under the Smoky Roof

A woman is pushed to the edge when she discovers her husband is having an affair

Shirin (Merila Zarei) is facing difficulties in her family life. Her relationship with her husband (Farhad Aslani from Daughter and Time to Love) is strained, and her son is distant. However, when she learns that her husband is having an affair, it pushes her to the edge. She is torn between the traditional values that her family expects from her and the modern way of life in today's Tehran. While they seem to have forgotten how to communicate as a family, there is still a strong love that keeps them together.

At the 2017 Fajr Film Festival, Meeila Zarei and Leila Hatami tied for the Crystal Simorgh award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
