Swallows and Amazons

An instant family classic based on Arthur Ransome's beloved novel

“...a charmingly old-fashioned family adventure”Dave Calhoun, Time Out

Swallows and Amazons follows four children during a tedious summer holiday in England’s Lake District in 1935. Dreaming of escape after they find a dinghy called the Swallow, the kids set sights on an overnight camping trip on a remote island. Finally permitted by their mother, the adventure begins… but they soon discover they may not be alone.

Enter the ‘Amazons’, two local sisters playing at pirates who jostle with the Swallow crew for ownership of the island. Meanwhile, the real dangers of an adult world on the brink of war encroach their paradise when a mysterious pair of Russian spies appear, hot on the tail of the enigmatic travel journalist, Jim Turner, who just happens to live on a nearby boat.

As the sleepy British summer is turned on its head, the Swallows must learn survival, responsibility and the all-important value of friendship. Steeped in the wonder of a child’s imagination and set in the breathtaking backdrop of the lakes, this is an exhilarating adaptation of a treasured classic.

With a great British cast including Kelly Macdonald (Brave), Andrew Scott (Spectre), Rafe Spall (The BFG), Jessica Hynes (Paddington 2) and comedy legend Harry Enfield, prepare to be delighted and enchanted by this wonderful tale for the whole family.
