An intimate portrait of the cobbler who became one of the world's most influential fashion figures
“You may not be able to afford the shoes, but Michael Roberts' documentary... may bring you almost as much delight” - Stephanie Zacharek, TIME Magazine
Sex and The City made Manolo Blahnik’s shoes a cultural sensation. In Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes for Lizards, the first feature length documentary to tell Blahnik’s life story, celebrated auteur and Vanity Fair’s style editor-at-large, Michael Roberts, reveals how Blahnik became recognised as the world’s greatest shoe designer.
Now 75 years old, Blahnik continues to work at a furious pace, creating shoes not just for his own highly coveted eponymous label, but also for films like Sophia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette. He is the go to shoe maker for style icon Anna Wintour, actor Rupert Everett, super models Naomi Campbell, Iman, Karlie Kloss and superstar Rihanna, with whom he recently collaborated on three collections.
