The annual dinner of the Australian Independent Distributors Association (AIDA) was held last night on the Gold Coast, with the Independent Spirit Award being presented to John Politzer in absentia.. The awards honour exhibitors who have contributed to the successful release of Australian films, and Bindi Irwin may have been chosen as guest presenter by the distributors for her renowned skill at dealing with dangerous and unpredictable wildlife.
