Brief: Washington stolen by British elves

As the BBC launches its production arm in Australia, it finds a new head happily working in a matchbox.

Kylie Washington is the new and first Director of Production for BBC Studios in Australia. Since 2012 she has been the Head of Unscripted for Matchbox Pictures. When she took up the role it looked like a journey into very tentative territory for a company built from five really good drama producers with some very respectable documentary credits as well.

The role got a whole lot realler when NBCU bought a majority of the company in 2014 and eventually absorbed all of it. According to the release, she then built 16 series….
