Five years ago, a TV studio executive in LA told me, proudly, that his studio provided writing scholarships for the main minority groups in the US; Hispanic, Africa-American, women and people over 40! I was shocked to suddenly belong to two ‘minority’ groups, but it reflected how the US TV landscape is controlled by white men, many also over 40, but botoxed to look younger. Back home, I’ve watched Australian TV gradually changing colour but, given that it’s partial, I was interested to see what this panel would recommend to producers.
