The Australian Directors Guild did themselves proud at Melbourne’s Sofitel on Friday night in its last outing in that city for some time. It goes back to Sydney after four years, to the relief of northern members who want to see the ceremony.

The event is divided in two with the awards hustled out efficiently in a theatre, really well guided by host Susie Youssef with a lovely relaxed style and a great feel for modest jokes. Just shy of thirty she already has a solid career, so I guess a bunch of friendly directors was a dream audience.
