The Arab Film Festival opens tonight, on 17 August with Lebanese rom-com Mahbas in Sydney, with Melbourne, Canberra and Perth following. On 19 August, Sydney viewers can attend an In Conversation with Sophie Boutros, the director of the film.

It could be fascinating – she made music clips for major Arabic language popular singers, has a Bachelors degree in directing from Lebanon, has directed television and currently teaches at the the Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication at the American University in Dubai, which she helped to found. The picture is doing well in the Middle East.
