Kate Winslett will play opposite Judy Davis in a big-budget film of The Dressmaker to begin shooting early next year.

Sue Maslin’s latest film is now fully financed and slated to shoot in early 2014. Putting book, performers and director together with this much potential is a feat in itself.

The Dressmaker comes from a novel written by Rosalie Ham, who gradually turned herself into a novelist through two decades as a nurse in aged care intercut with a drama degree from Rusden, and a handful of play scripts.
