Some time after 2008, John Clarke wrote an obituary for his own father, Ted, which tells the story of his family. Writing for reflection rather than performance, he spoke simply and with great love. The lines contain the voice and beauty of the man who died suddenly this last weekend, walking in the Grampians. HIs family has said that ‘John died doing one of the things he loved the most in the world, taking photos of birds in beautiful bushland with his wife and friends.’
