Box Office 29 Jan 2018 – Sweet Country strikes on holiday weekend

Can a confident Sweet Country on 42 screens beat Swinging Safari? It will certainly last longer with a decent per screen return.

Sweet Country, the Warwick Thornton Aboriginal western, opened this weekend on 42 screens and took $260,000, which is a comfortable $6192/screen. The much more confronting Samson & Delilah, released in 2009, took $200,000 in its first weekend and ultimately made $3.2m.
