Box Office 12 March 2018 – swap colours, keep stereotypes, save genre

Black Panther dominates, the Shape of Water gains from the Oscars but the others not so much. And The Square has arrived in town.

Sweet Country rumbles on, a line of horses patiently working up sand dunes. Seven weeks, down 30%, on 108 screens at an average of $635/screen. It has been given a solid opportunity and reached $1,766,230. Is this the end? 

The Oscar results made a difference to the figures for the week. Winner The Shape of Water added another 88 screens to reach 212, climbed 376% (and 62% in the US), reached $4.03m and grabbed a modest $1835/screen. But is was week eight.
