David Lyle, who died of cancer on September 21st at the age of 67, was a remarkable man. He is arguably the single most effective Australian executive who worked on an international level.

He came a long way.  He left schoolteaching to become a writer and producer at both the ABC and TEN, where he stepped in front of the camera as a presenter.
