Who designed Sense and Sensibility for Ang Lee in 1995? The fabulous Luciana Arrighi, honoured now on Australia Day but a true internationalist alive with the spirit of Mudgee, Sydney, London, Paris and Brazil.  Image: production still.

The list of Australia Day honours for 2017 is pretty extraordinary, and illustrates the remarkable crafts and personalities which make up the tapestry of screen creation. The wider world can name Nick Cave, Tony Bonner, Andrew O’Keefe, Ray Meagher and Peter Hitchener. But the list also includes production designer Luciana Arrighi, cinematographer David Brill, producer John Edwards, festival head Claire Dobbin, exhibitor Robert Ward, historian Bill Bunbury, and engineering leader Geoff Healey.
