Kept gurgling by The Chaser’s Craig Reucassel, 140 sound people and those who love them attended the 20th Australian Screen Sound Guild Awards in Sydney’s Establishment Ballroom.
The Syd Butterworth Lifetime Achievement Award went to sound mixer Gethin Creagh as custodian of that final moment when the whole intricate, holy process of gathering, transferring, labelling, selecting, synching, cutting, comparing, laying, recreating and performing all the sonic elements comes together. From New Zealand, he works from here to Hong Kong, most recently from South Australia, as the proprietor of Quiet Please for the last 27 years. He started in 1971, has also taught at AFTRS when it was young, and ​most recently mixed Boys in the Trees.
