The first Art House Theatre Day is being celebrated on Saturday 24 September. It is driven by The Art House Convergence, described as ‘an international consortium of independent, community-based, mission-driven movie theaters’, including 160 in the US. Aside from Canada and the mainland US the world is actually represented by the Honolulu Museum of Art Doris Duke Theatre, the Sõprus Movie Theatre in Estonia, and Cinema Nova in Melbourne, billed by itself as the largest arthouse cinema in the Southern Hemisphere.
