Your Industry News Listing From Screenhub

Welcome to the News Bulletin for Friday 22 October, 2010 from Screen Hub, the regular digest of news articles for Australian screen professionals.

The Hobbit horrors are becoming ever more complicated, and even the conspiracy theorists have collapsed from exhaustion. We have a summary of the curious truce that no-one would admit existed, the real finances of moving a film which Warners wants to teleport to Watford, and why the game is far from over.

The BBC has the horrors as well, as the Tories come with small knives and evil smiles. Fortunately they are so tuckered out knackering absolutely everyone in the UK that they have asked the BBC to gouge itself a few times and send a bucket of blood as proof. We will let you guess whose blood that is likely to be.

The Brisbane International Film Festival is selling tickets in Brisbane and the old burg may never be the same again. Mel Gibson has been thrown off a film about hangovers, while Mike Tyson has been kept, despite his fondness for edible gristle.

We know it is cruel to laugh at the young, but we can't resist this press release from the Young Nats in New Zealand - "Young Nats Stand Up for Hobbit"

"New Zealand Young Nationals are again speaking out this week, as nationwide union sabotage has struck an all-time low. The attempt by Wellington unionists to undermine film producers of *The Hobbit* has caused Warner Brothers/New Line to support relocation of the film's production to Australia.

However, the Young Nationals applaud Prime Minister, John Key's indication of keeping the film's production here in New Zealand."

Ah if it was only true,..

The Loved Ones is gunna be a hit. 390 on Moviemeter, which is hot, hot, hot.
